Rebuilding Public Trust in the Media

The Rebuilding Public Trust In The Media workshop was held from 24 to 28 June at The Language House, Section 13, Petaling Jaya. TLH was the venue sponsor and worked closely with Malaysian Press Institute. The workshop trainer was run by Mr. Eric Wishart from Agence France Presse.

The 5-day workshop, which was a collaboration with Agence France-Presse (AFP), was run by former AFP chief author and project specialist, Mr. Eric Wishart.

There were a total of 20 participants who attended the workshop, representing 10 medias; Bernama, Utusan Melayu, Sinar Harian, Media Prima, New Straits Times, Jabatan Penerangan Negara, Kosmo! RTM, The Star and IKIM.

The workshop covered the overview journalistic best practice, news accuracy, interview techniques, headline writing, just to name a few. The casual, laid-back course gave the journalists plenty of opportunities to generate discussions with the speaker. They agreed that the course is very informative and useful to further improve their skills in news reporting.

Overall, the workshop received great feedback from the participants. Based on the positive responses, there is a second series scheduled from 2 to 5 September.
